ABSTRACT
The purpose of this reasearch is to asses the levels of school administrators ethical leadership
behavior according to school type and the relation ship between thetwo.
This comparative survey method was used with teachers working for the National Board of
Education in primary and middle schools in the province of Trabzon between the years of 2017-2018.
A total of 120 teachers from primary and middle schools, (62 female, 58 male) were questioned for
this research.
The ‘Ethical Leadership Scale’ was used to determine the ethical leadership levels of school
administrators. The data was collected using the 44 clause ‘Ethical Leadership Scale’ developed by
Yılmaz (2005). Answer options and point valuestothe survey questions were the following: ‘Strongly
Disagree’ – 1 point, ‘Disagree’ – 2 points, ‘Undecided’ – 3 points, ‘Agree’ – 4 points, ‘Strongly agree’
– 5 points. The researcher also developed a personal information form to determine the demographic
characteristics of the teachers. The T-test was used in the analysis of the data.
According to the gender, branchand education status of teachers participating in this reasearch,
the rewas no statistically significant difference in the level of ethical leadership behaviour between
primary and secondary school administratiors.
