the context of sampling and timing. In the research, which was carried out in accordance with the quali-
tative study, the relevant studies carried out in Turkey since 2004 were evaluated by document analysis.
The results reveal that longitudinal studies have not been carried out since the second half of 2020 when
the effects of the epidemic began to be felt intensely. It can be stated that the 21 longitudinal studies
discussed were not generally carried out with middle school students, who are among the main groups
of science education. In addition, it is understood that more importance is given to pre-service teachers
who continue their education in the relevant field as a sampling group in these studies.
As well as pre-service science teachers, the professionals are determined as sampling groups in
such studies. These results have some perspectives on how researchers can adapt their research met-
hodologies to sampling and timing in longitudinal studies under epidemic conditions.
